General Summary

  • Completes assigned general activities on the production floor.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities of General Labor/ Production Worker:

  • Assists with production, preparation, and storage of company products.
  • Maintains housekeeping of the production plant and warehouse.
  • Removes foreign material and damaged or inferior raw potatoes from production line.
  • Cleans equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Checks for correct packaging boxes and containers.
  • Ensures product date and weight are within established guidelines.
  • Seals filled product packages and boxes.
  • Examines containers, materials, and products to ensure packaging meet company specifications.
  • Removes defective products or packages from the production line.
  • Assembles product containers on an assembly line.
  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas of the production facility and equipment according to food safety guidelines.
  • Dismantles and reassembles production equipment for cleaning according to guidelines specific to equipment and company guidelines.
  • Uses chemicals in proper concentration according to company guidelines & training.
  • Removes garbage from building and transport to dumpster.
  • Prepares various vegetables for the production mix area using machinery.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary workplace.
  • Continuously monitors product quality.
  • Communicates production status to the Lead.
  • Reports maintenance problems to the Plant Supervisors or Leads.
  • Follows company safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices

Working Conditions for General Labor/ Production Worker:

  1. Refrigerated foods manufacturing plant.
  2. The environment may be wet, or dry, and temperatures may range from 35°F to 110°F.
  3. Repetitive lifting, kneeling, and bending with packages in excess of 45 lbs is required.
  4. Requires walking and standing for long periods of time.
  5. Production demands may require overtime and/or evening scheduling as needed.
